You pay ₩7,000 to enter, but ₩5,000 is returned in local currency that can be used at participating businesses in Gapyeong.

🌼 What Is Jaraseom Flower Festa?
Jaraseom (자라섬) is an island in Gapyeong surrounded by the Bukhangang River.
It’s actually made up of four sections — East, West, Middle and South islands — and has become one of Gapyeong’s best-known outdoor destinations.
You may also recognize the name because Jaraseom is home to the famous Jarasum Jazz Festival.
But during spring and autumn, flowers take center stage.
The southern section of Jaraseom is transformed into a large seasonal flower garden, creating long walking paths surrounded by colorful blooms.

If the weather is good and you have enough time, this can turn a simple flower-garden visit into a much more complete Gapyeong day trip.

🚗 Getting Around Jaraseom Is Easier Than You Might Think
Jaraseom is bigger than it first appears.
Fortunately, during the festival an electric vehicle service runs between the entrance area and the vicinity of the festival grounds.
This can be especially useful for:

- Visitors carrying camera equipment
- Anyone who doesn’t want to spend the entire day walking
That said, comfortable shoes are still highly recommended.
This is fundamentally an outdoor walking festival.
🚆 How to Get to Jaraseom from Seoul
For most international travelers, public transportation is the easiest option.
The main gateway is Gapyeong Station (가평역).
From Seoul, you can travel toward Gapyeong using rail services along the Gyeongchun corridor, including ITX-Cheongchun depending on your departure point and schedule.
Once you arrive at Gapyeong Station, continue toward Jaraseom by local transportation or taxi.
Because routes and schedules can change, check your preferred Korean navigation app on the day of your trip.

You don’t necessarily need to return to Seoul immediately after seeing the flowers.
Gapyeong is one of the most popular day-trip areas around Seoul.
And one famous destination is extremely close.

Nami Island is only a short distance from Jaraseom, making these two places an obvious combination.

September sits between Korea’s hot summer and peak autumn foliage season.
The mountains aren’t necessarily covered in red and orange leaves yet.
But the air gradually becomes cooler, outdoor festivals return, and spending several hours walking outside becomes much more enjoyable.
Flowers give you the autumn colors before the trees fully change.

💰 Is the ₩7,000 Admission Worth It?
We think so — especially because of the refund system.
The entrance fee is ₩7,000, but visitors receive ₩5,000 back in Gapyeong local currency.
You can use the refunded value at participating festival booths as well as eligible restaurants and cafés around Gapyeong.
So instead of thinking of it as simply paying ₩7,000 to enter a flower garden, think of it as:

If you’re already planning to buy a snack, coffee or meal in Gapyeong, it’s a pretty visitor-friendly system.

👨👩👧 Is Jaraseom Flower Festa Good for Families?
Yes.
In fact, this may be one of the easier autumn festivals for families.
There’s plenty of open space, the main attraction doesn’t require standing in one place for a performance, and children can simply walk around and explore.
The additional activities such as balloon art also give younger visitors something to do beyond looking at flowers.
Just remember that Jaraseom is large.
If you’re visiting with small children, don’t try to see every corner of the island.
Pick the flower gardens and a few nearby activities and keep the day relaxed.

Definitely.
If Seoul’s cafés and shopping districts are starting to feel a little repetitive, Jaraseom offers a completely different kind of date.
